It’s been a busy month here in the studio, and the mice and I have been dividing our time between filling orders, working on the mossy mouse house, and building a new commission for a museum in D.C., which we’re super excited about.
The commission is for a room box with the theme “dream room,” and I’m allowed to do pretty much whatever my little heart desires in keeping with that theme. The idea for the room came to me in the shower, and I could barely wait to rinse the shampoo out of my hair so I could start sketching!
Here’s the room as it’s beginning to come together. The “dream” aspect of it isn’t apparent yet, and that’s going to be a surprise…so stay tuned for more pictures. 🙂

OMG it’s flippin’ ADORABLE!! And the colors have knocked my socks right off! TOO cute. Is it 1:12?
Um…you might wanna keep the Nutmeg’s from peering too closely at it…next thing you know they’ll be wanting you to help them install some of those neon rocks like you sometimes see in aquariums. 😀
That fabric (the bedspread) is so cute, and is that a blue bear I see sitting on the bed? I sure would like a closer look, since he reminds me of a little felted bear I found on Etsy. Or was it Ebay? I’m not a teddy bear fan per se, as I much prefer my stuffed kitty-cats, but that little bear was simply to die for. Wish I had bought him.
I really love this little room, Mo. It makes me happy to look at it. 🙂

Aw, that’s such an cute room. I’d totally live in it if I could shrink myself.

How cool is that for you to be commissioned for a museum! Hmmm, I wonder what the dream aspect is. I think since you do such a fantastic job with miniature food, there needs to be a midnight snack on the nightstand.

Thanks! And me too–if only I could be small for a day… 🙂

Oh my gosh, you are good, Diane! Wait ’til you see the midnight snack in the about-to-be-posted finished pics. 😉

Thanks, Deb!! 😀 The little bear was actually a gift, so I’m not sure where it’s from, but it looked too perfect on the bed that I had to include it.
And too late–the Nutmegs are already asking me to revamp their dollhouse in similar colors and styles. Next project! 😉 (And yep–the room’s in 1/12 scale.)
