Yesterday and today, I’ve been working on a custom order for St. Patrick-themed sweets in American Girl-18″ doll size. I snapped a few pictures as I worked so you could see some of the process!

First off, I used templates that I drew in an illustration program and printed on card stock to cut out my cookie shapes. I then used artist chalk to give the cookies a baked appearance (see this post for more details) before baking the pieces and decorating them with polymer clay icing. The cookies were baked one final time once the icing details were complete.

IMGA0546The cupcakes are still in progress, but I created the cupcake base using a mold I made (see my miniature cupcake tutorial for details and molds), and then I piped air dry clay frosting on top and added hand-sculpted polymer clay decorations. The cupcakes in the first picture still need paper liners, and the piece in the last photo will have gold coins glued to the top of the little pot, and I’ll also be painting a rainbow swirl onto the icing. More pics later this week!
