At long last, I’ve finally begun work on the next issue of The Dollhouse Chef Series, and this time one is all about Italian foods–buon appetito!
I have the entire table of contents mapped out, and while there’s always room for changes at this stage, it looks like the final book will have between 30 to 40 projects, along with a mix-and-match section of pasta shapes and sauces, which you can pair to create your own “recipes.”
Here’s a little sneak peek at some of the projects that I’ve finished so far: a panini, fusili with pesto and cherry tomatoes, spaghetti and meatballs, and Italian wedding soup.
To receive occasional updates as the book progresses, plus a discount on the book once it’s available, be sure to sign up for my mailing list here. Bonus: You’ll get a bunch of free tutorials when you sign up as well. 🙂

The fusilli looks amazing 🙂 (and hard to do)! Will this book be added to your “Ultimate Collection” with the other 7 books?

Thanks, Rebecca! 🙂 That’s a good question, and one I haven’t quite decided on yet. I’m not sure that I want to make The Ultimate Collection higher in price, so I might sell two different bundles, each with four books, as another option for people who want to collect the books at a discount.

[…] First off, I wanted to do a version of spaghetti and meatballs with the sauce and meatballs on top of a bed of pasta, in contrast to the style in this post. […]

Why do I read your blog before breakfast?! Everything looks great, but as rebeccamonkey said, that fusilli is especially impressive!

Thank you! And I hear you–I’ve been having wicked pasta cravings while working on these pieces. *sigh*

Oh man! I can imagine. I don’t know if I’ve ever asked you before — do you cook equally luscious menus after a full day of sculpting, or are you too tired to do anything complicated? I feel like I could go either way, if it were me: either super-inspired by all the fancy things I’ve been miniaturizing, or too exhausted to do anything but sandwiches. 😉

We do cook dinner every day since our dietary habits don’t lend themselves to eating out (and we love to cook), but I’m not sure our dinners are quite as fancy schmancy as most of the foods I sculpt. 😉 I will admit, though, it’s not always fun looking up tantalizing pictures of breads and pastas for sculpting references now that I’m wheat/sugar free. :p

Aww, yeah, that can’t be fun! Good for you for daily cooking, though! I’ve been trying to do that but there is a definite inverse correlation between amount of creative work I get done and amount of cooking I feel up to doing. ;b

I hear ya! I know the one thing that helps us is mapping out a menu for an entire week and making sure the shopping’s done beforehand so there’s no after-work, “Ugggh, what are we going to make tonight?”
