I got quite a bit finished yesterday for the upcoming Italian foods book, so I have lots of pictures for you today! If you’ve missed the first two posts, be sure to check out more yummy Italian pics here and here.
For today’s dishes, first off we have a delicious platter of veal milanese with deliciously crispy breading and a buttery lemon garnish.
Next up, a tray of chicken Marsala with a velvety sauce of Marsala wine and mushrooms.
Then, we have a platter of eggplant rollatini with lots of homemade tomato sauce and gooey melted cheese.
And finally, chicken parmigiana with a crisp, breaded cutlet smothered in tomato sauce and melted mozzarella.

Your work is amazing! This is coming from a fellow mini foodie 🙂 You must work 24 hours a day!

Thank you so much, Jen! The Mouse Market is my full-time job, but thankfully that usually translates into only 8-hour days–I’m not sure my hands could handle much more! 😉

I feel your hand pain! Do you use a food processor? I do when I have to soften a whole bunch of clay.
May 16, 2014 at 5:30 pm
It’s funny you mention that, because I just read that tip in a polymer clay book but had never thought of doing that before. I’m going to have to give it a try!

It helps! I have a cool little Kitchenaid food processor that I got at a garage sale for 5 bucks. If the clay is really hard, I put a few drops of softener through the top while it is running. Works like a charm!

That’s great! I’ll have to pick one up and give it a try. My hands will probably love me for it. 🙂

That spread is looking more and more delicious. 🙂 It’s amazing how you get not just all the textures, but the level of shininess of particular foods, like melted cheese or a rich sauce. I think about this a lot while painting, but you’ve captured the distinctions perfectly in clay! (Sigh. Why is there no tomato sauce in our kitchen right now? On the other hand I do have some cheesy creamed greens. I think I’ll have those for breakfast!)

Thanks for noticing! One of the things that I see when I look at most of my earlier stuff is my tendency to coat everything and anything with gloss! Not exactly a recipe for realistic foods… (Mmm, creamed greens…)
June 10, 2014 at 5:52 pm
Hee. I never thought things were too glossy before, but you’re definitely reaching new levels of subtlety. 🙂
As for the creamed greens, I have been taking every opportunity to make variations on this recipe (usually without the jalapeños), and pretty much every version has been delicious. 🙂

Oh, YUM. That recipe looks like something I’d have a hard time not eating the entire pan of…

Done that! Or near enough. ;b
