The mice and I have been happily buried in mini food orders, and one was a particularly fun request for detailed sushi platters.
On a totally different note, I had to do a project for my Chinese Five Element Theory class in massage school, and since we were given free rein to do anything we pleased, of course I went with miniatures! The assignment was to represent all of the qualities associated with our chosen element–mine was Earth.
The organs associated with the Earth element are the stomach and spleen, so I created a sort of shadow box out of the organ outlines. Inside the “rooms” are objects relating to the other correspondences, such as “moist” (the mossy terrarium), “anxiety” (the self-help books), “sweetness” (the desserts), “slippery” (the banana peel), and so forth.

Your sushi looks Yummy, and I am sure that your client will be delighted with the platters! π
I am curious as to how your presentation went. Β Your shadow box is very creative and it must have caused a sensation when you submitted it. π

Thanks, Elizabeth! π
The presentation was a hit! It was super fun to show my classmates and instructor what I do all day, holed up in my studio making teeny food. It’s one thing to explain it and another thing entirely to see it. π

Those nigiri platters look incredibly real. They are the best representation I’ve ever seen, and OMG! That Ebi looks REAL! I’m mean really, really REAL. For just a moment I was completely thrown by the nigiri size as compared to the shrimp head, and my brain double-clutched there for just a minute, an odd sensation. haha
Tell your client they missed the most important aspect of any perfect Nigiri meal, or maybe it was intentional on their part, because not everybody enjoys Anago like I do. π Β I do believe I see my very favorite, however, right above the Uni gunkan (canNOT hack Uni because my first one had ‘gone over’ π and you can keep that rubberband-y Ika, too). Β Is that Otoro?
Seriously, Moe…these two platters are simply amazing.Β
